Electrical Technician
Normanton
Based at our UK Head Office at Normanton, the Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
The role includes diagnostics, technical support, and contributing to system improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation & Maintenance
- Install, test, commission, and maintain electrical systems, equipment, and wiring in line with safety regulations, BS 7671, and company quality standards.
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and scheduled servicing on electrical, mechanical, and AMHE equipment to minimise downtime and maintain product flow.
- Inspect systems to identify hazards, defects, deterioration, and required repairs.
- Diagnose and repair Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, PLC, and PC‑based faults, prioritising issues effectively.
- Monitor system performance, identify recurring faults, and conduct data evaluation and error analysis to support continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, fault reports, and technical records.
- Ensure spare parts are kept at optimal levels.
Troubleshooting & Repair
- Use diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical documentation to identify electrical faults.
- Repair or replace wiring, components, motors, control panels, and instrumentation.
- Restore systems to full operational function in a timely and safe manner.
Technical Support
- Support engineering and project teams with equipment upgrades, commissioning activities, and modifications.
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams, technical manuals, and engineering drawings.
- Assist with installation and testing of new technologies and systems.
Safety & Compliance
- Work in full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, completing risk assessments where required.
- Follow all company quality processes and procedures.
- Ensure all work meets required safety and electrical standards.
Professional Conduct
- Represent the company professionally and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Identify and support continuous improvement and potential sales opportunities.
Knowledge, training and experience required
- Level 3 Electrical Qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (desirable).
- ONC/HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (electrical preferred).
- Apprenticeship‑trained or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with industrial equipment, automated machinery, or conveyor systems (preferred).
- Understanding of control systems, PLC fundamentals, PIX programming and technical manuals.
- PC literacy.
- Ability to work at height and in various environments.
- Flexibility to work shifts or on‑call rotas where required.
